COMMISSIONING OF NNPC/POOC COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
 

As part of its corporate social responsibility to its host communities, the NNPC/ Pan Ocean Oil Company Joint Venture recently completed and commissioned some parts of the Community Development projects in two Communities of Delta as well as one in Edo State.

The Projects commissioned were the equipments for Science laboratory at Obasuyi College, Obayantor, Edo State. Water Borehole Facility at Amukpe Community, Sapele, and the rehabilitation of Classroom Block at Ogunu Primary School, Ogunu both in Delta State.

The commissioning ceremony which was performed on April 19 th 2011 had in attendance the community council of chiefs, teachers, women forum, and representatives of the Joint Venture partnership as well as other dignitaries.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the leaders of the benefitting communities expressed profound gratitude to NNPC/POOC for executing the projects which will go a long in meeting the needs of their communities. In his welcome address, the President-General of Amukpe community, Mr. William A. Ojo commended POOC for the excellent performance in their areas of social responsibility to Amukpe Kingdom. He used the forum to enumerate the number of meaningful projects sited in Amukpe environ by POOC and pledged their support to sustain the cordial relationship between the community and Pan Ocean Oil Company.

Mr Emmanuel Irabor of POOC in response thanked the communities for the continuous support they have been enjoying over the years and therefore, promised POOC’s position to contribute meaningfully to the development of their host communities.

Speaking at the occasion, the Group General Manager, NAPIMS, Mr. Morrison Anthony Fiddi, who was represented by Mr. Wilson Udoh, reiterated the commitment of NNPC to develop the communities where they operate and maintain mutually sustainable relations with all stakeholders through continuous engagement.

The GGM while commending the communities for the relative peace that NNPC/POOC has been enjoying, enjoined the people to take ownership and judicious use of the facility as they are no longer belong to the Joint Venture.

In his remarks, the POOC team lead reechoed that the commissioning which cut across many aspects of community life today, is another evidence of NNPC/POOC commitment to assist the government of Delta state in developing the host communities.
