NAPIMS ORIENTATES NEW TRANSFEREES ON ITS CULTURE

The Group General Manager, NAPIMS, Dr. M. K. Baru has tasked staff recently transferred from other NNPC locations to NAPIMS to live up to the challenges of enhanced efficiency and productivity currently driven by the new NNPC.

Dr. Baru handed down the admonition during a two day induction workshop titled Orientation and Culture Analysis for recent transferees to NAPIMS held at the Golden Gate Restaurant, Ikoyi. The objective of the programme was to provide participants with background information about NAPIMS and the essential attitudes expected of all employees.

It was also aimed at helping participants acquire basic skills needed to cope in the new job situations they find themselves. He described NAPIMS as the ‘mystical elephant’ - “If you are not here, you hear a lot of things but when get here, you see things differently”.

He stated that our job is strategic to us, the nation and the generations unborn and advised staff not to fall to the temptation that rears its head on the job, knowing that the good of all is better than the good of one. Focus, dedication to duty and transparency is needed to respond adequately to the demands of the job; he advised.

He told the new staff members that the transformation programme sweeping across all strategic business arms of NNPC has altered the group corporate service culture and realigned Team of Facilitators the corporation on the path of profitability through efficient service delivery. Given the strategic role of NAPIMS as the oldest arm of NNPC, he pointed out, the agency has continuously improved upon its operational scope, responsibilities and capacity to surmount mitigating challenges and deliver on commitments.

While welcoming the new employees, Dr. Baru made it clear that they must work diligently in their duties, warning that NAPIMS has no space for lazy hands. He pledged the willingness of his management team to encourage all staff to put in their best in a collective effort to ensure delivery of goals on targets which include prosecution of government agenda, management of government assets, defining operational direction and spearheading new technology application in the oil and gas industry.

The GGM highlighted the difficulties NAPIMS is facing in terms of office accommodation. Very well organised and rich in content, the programme had Facilitators drawn from NAPIMS, Shell Petroleum Development Company and Drucker & Associates.
