For the NAPIMS NEWS, 2007 was remarkably successful but not without the teaming support of our readership, the contributors, the Editorial Board, and indeed our Management. I have the great honour and priviledge to appreciate you for your immense contributions in the journey so far.
Above all I appreciate the Almighty God for his wisdom and guidance. On that note, I welcome you to 2008 hoping that together, we will attain greater heights. In our lead story, the GGM, NAPIMS, Dr. M. K. Baru takes stock of the activities in 2007, highlighting the challenges that hampered our mandate. In his new year charge, he has reeled out a number of initiatives for 2008, key amongst which is the focus on the PSC Assets.
Talking about synergy and cooperation, the National Assembly paid a working visit to NAPIMS in what they called the Senate Oversight Tour of NAPIMS and the Joint Venture Companies. The distinguished Senators believe that such synergy is inevitable to foster the good of the nation. And for the first time since the inception of Offshore West African Conference, NNPC in the just concluded 2008 edition had the privileged of exhibiting independently.
The GGM NAPIMS, GM, PSC and GM, NipeX were among the numerous visitors to the NNPC common booth featuring her new initiatives which includes NipeX – one of the success stories of NAPIMS. This year’s edition had its theme as “The Gulf of Guinea: Sustaining the Momentum of World Class Resource Development”. In our special interview column, ‘NNPC Down the Memory Lane’, you will be priviledged to hear from one the horses’ mouth how it all began in NNPC and his perspective on the issue of the re-organisation of the energysector. In this edition, Chief Chamberlain Oyibo former Group Managing Director, NNPC is our key feature.
