NAPIMS STAFF CHARGED TO BE COMMITTED TO NNPC

The Group Executive Director, Exploration & Production of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Engr. Andy Yakubu has drawn the attention of Management and staff of NAPIMS to the core values of NNPC which include Transparency and Accountability. He advised them to uphold integrity and put the interest of the Corporation above personal gains. This, he said, will ensure the survival of the Corporation.

Speaking during his recent visit to NAPIMS, the GED said it was homecoming for him having left NAPIMS about 7 years ago. Engr. Yakubu said that NAPIMS constitutes a significant component of his sojourn in NNPC having spent 11 years of his career in NNPC in the CSU.

Speaking further, the GED said his mission was to solicit support for the NNPC transformation journey which is aimed at properly positioning the Corporation post Passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB). He reiterated the role of NAPIMS as the “Manager” of Government interest in the Exploration and Production Sector whose actions or inactions directly impact on the economy of the nation.

He therefore enjoined staff to be guided by professionalism in executing their assignments and should not hesitate to be a “Whistle Blower” when they observe that things are going the wrong way. He assured them of Management support for forthrightness at all times.

Speaking further, the GED said that NipeX will be upgraded in order to reduce or eliminate manual technical and commercial evaluation exercises. This, according to him, will enhance NAPIMS’ supervision and participation in the core activities of the Operators.

Engr. Yakubu counseled the staff on the need to build healthy relationships with one another. He recalled how he leveraged on the good relationship he cultivated while in NAPIMS to attract jobs for National Engineering & Technical Company Limited (NETCO) when he was posted there. Speaking from his wealth of experience, he said that positions and power are the most transient factors of life while good relationships will outlive the office.

The GED called on the Management of NAPIMS to work assiduously towards providing befitting office accommodation for NAPIMS staff.

Responding to the GED’s speech, the GGM, NAPIMS, Mr. Morrison A. Fiddi applauded the GED for his encouraging words. He informed the GED that the morale of the NAPIMS staff is quite high and are always willing to work under pressure. The GGM also highlighted the challenge of staff constraint noting that the volume of job handled in NAPIMS is enormous when compared with the number of staff.

The GGM also joined the GED to appeal passionately to staff to desist from any practice that will tarnish the image of the Corporation.
